Stochastic programming approach for optimal day-ahead market bidding curves of a microgrid

The deregulation of electricity markets has driven the need to optimise market bidding strategies, e.g. when and how much buy or sell, in order gain an economic advantage a competitive environment. present work aims determine optimal day-ahead curves for microgrid comprised battery, power generator, photovoltaic (PV) system load from commercial building. Existing models heuristically fix price values each allowed curve point prior optimisation problem relax limitations set by rules on number price–quantity points per curve. In contrast, this integrates selection prices construction into energy schedule; aiming further enhance accuracy while remaining feasible under rules. examined is formulated as mixed integer linear programming (MILP) model, embedded two-stage stochastic approach. Uncertainty considered PV power. First stage decisions are curves, overall objective minimise expected operational cost microgrid. strategy derived then through Monte Carlo simulations comparing it against deterministic approach two alternative approaches literature.
